Porting wordpress
I need to get my blog to go from wordpress's servers to mine. I have SQL on the domain package and I have done stuff like this in the past. I will be using FTP for the bulk of it. Just need some pointers with installing it.

Just install WordPress fresh on the new server. Delete all the "hello world" posts and pages.
Backup/Export the old WordPress install. Restore/Import it into the new install.
No need to screw around in phpmyadmin.
I mean the WordPress backup is just a sql dump, but there is no need to get into those details.

This is assuming that the wordpress.com backup is compatible with one of your own. I'm sure it is -- but if it isn't, you may have to do stuff with phpMyAdmin. Go ahead and do some research (google) to see if it possible (it should be).

My host had a whole guide on how to do it. Rather simple, hadn't installed anything in ages on a remote server. Forgot how easy it is.
