User Registration Disabled

Okay folks, this spam thing is getting out of hand. Most of you don't even see it because I have filtered it into a separate system that only the moderators can see. But I'm deleting about 5 users/spam msgs every time I log in here and I know that the other mods are doing the same thing. So I am going to disable user registration and (eventually) delete all these spam accounts that have been made.
New procedure to join:
1) Guest has to know someone in the forum
2) That someone has to post in this thread giving many reasons as to why said guest should join
3) ????
4) Profit!

haha I like that procedure.
EDIT: Oh! Is that why the General forum always displays a new post? Because one's been posted and our sweet mods swoop it up before it can spam us?

This board doomed? Ya. I suppose. If you only count boards upon themselves. I like to count boards as iterations though.
Nearly 9 years of iterations, across something like 5 boards, and 4 domains. Hell you could even call it 6 boards, 3 unique, and 5 domains if you want to count the idiots from JDennis. But I don't, so we won't.

Why is phpBB so flawed with spam? Captcha, moderation and all that jazz can't even keep the spammers out these days? It's not even like this is a huge community that's getting targeted, so people can't be doing it manually. It wouldn't pay.

I edited the "language" php files -- when you "login", it tells you to email me. I have not received a single email.

My experience is phpBB is soooo easy to exploit. Just ask Brian.
I swear they released a patch, and the very next day he exploited it.
Pretty much as long as you don't go blaring about flaws in phpBB they will never get fixed, and you have a backdoor forever, or until accidentally fix it.
