Anyone have a suggestion for a cheap *used* entry level mac?
I want something i can screw around with, but actually can support current gen software (for comparison I don't want to be limited to a OS that was around at the same time as XP just to save money).
I know there has got to be options if the Mac Mini is now only $600, but hell if I even know what is decent.
Basically I just want to be honestly able to say I own a Mac, and I'm not blindly biased.
Even I know Macs have come a long way since I last used them 10 years ago.

Brian bought a used mac mini off of craigslist for that purpose and that he wanted to be able to code iphone apps.
seemed like it would have worked very well for that purpose (even though he never actually used it for that because of the high costs of developing iApps.)
I'd look into that. I wanna say he only spent $200-300 on it.

Do any of your local universities have surplus stores? Rutgers had a warehouse where they would sell old furniture/computers/etc. for really cheap... and they always seemed to have a couple Macs. Well, that was true 5-10 years ago, at least.

Hahaha! It was only on my mind because a few days ago I was telling someone about all of the stuff we bought from the surplus warehouse when we were in college, after they asked about my filing cabinets.
