Upgrade phpBB?

Now that we have an *achem* administrator in our community again, should we consider upgrading the phpBB software? I doubt it will make that much of a difference in our day to day posting, but it would alleviate any security risks that the old version put out.

Ryan at Big-O-Software just upgraded that forum, he said it took 2ish days to get it done: http://discuss.big-o-software.com/

I guess what I'm getting at is...does anyone know of anything phpBB 3 has to offer that the previous versions don't, outside of course the looks and a rockin admin interface (which could be reason enough).

I'm going to start a forum for the new product I'm working on. That will be phpbb3, so I might as well look into transitioning this one.

I don't like the idea of being so behind on the version...

The upgrade is finished. This is going to take some getting used to...

is there a way to still have 'quick reply'? also, was the main forum posted in lost in the transition?

I will try to get quick reply back, but it was a plugin. Not sure if I can find it for phpBB3 or not.

And I don't understand your second question at all. Can you rephrase?

God how I hate the new look. Not so sure if it is more the stuff being on the wrong side or the colors etc. I think it's more being on the wrong side though.

SubSilver was always a awesome theme anyways.

I saw that and for it I'm thankful.

I find it kinda funny though how (I dont remember who) said how they now love the quick reply box and you go and essentially get rid of it lol.

It wasn't purposefully done, it's just part of the upgrade. I found a quick-reply solution, I just need to find the time to install it.
